She is a prisoner of conscience, held solely for the peaceful exercise of her right to freedom of [...] A man named Ezra Nawi, already in detention, is about to be jailed by the Israeli government. He has previously been detained and jailed for interfering with state-sanctioned actions such as bulldozing the homes of Palestinians. More recently he has been trying to prevent Israeli “settlers” from using intimidation and personal terrorism to keep Palestinian farmers [...] While the oppression in Iran captures the world’s concern, the Israeli government is quietly escaping notice of its bizarre “peace” policy. Benjamin Netanyahu made a formal statement of his position, which must be taken as the position of the Israeli people as it is after all a democracy, that peace will only come if there is [...] Israel has much for which to answer. And it has some gruesomely dark patches in its history (Chatilla and Sabra tweak a memory?). But it cannot be denounced for acting without restraint in this most recent action.
